Local Freight

Okay, here are some photos of my tracklaying progress! First is a shot of the four staging tracks on the west end of Chattahoochee yard. The L&N mainline is to the right, and just to its left is the yard lead.

Here, an eastbound local from Pensacola pulls into Chattahoochee yard. Don't ask me why there's an Illinois Terminal GP-7 pulling it:

After dropping off its cars in the yard, then engine and caboose make a turning movement on the wye:

Finally, the crew parks next to Herman's Hamburger & Hotdog House for lunch before the return trip.

That Herman sure can fix a burger!

Jon, sure looks great! Keep us posted! Also, are you sure Hermus isn't also serving that tainted peanut butter? I don't see any cars in the parking lot which should tell the train crew something. ... I also think Chucky H probably had somethign to do with the switching assignment that sent the Illinois Terminal geep to the Florida panhandle!

It turns out the US Railroad Adminstration hired Herman to coordinate motive power. He decided to organize engines based on color schemes, so all red engines went west, blue engines north, and green engines south. He's been so busy he hasn't had much time for the restaurant, so trains are backing up while crews wait in line for their burgers.

Perhaps Hermus is taking longer than thought to make those hamburgers! How about a new post?
