Helix in Place

Woohoo! I finally have the helix in position. Of course there will still be another level on top, but the main structure is now in place.

The distance between each level is about 3.25 inches. Doesn't look like much but as this photo shows there's plenty of clearance for rolling stock typical of the 1940s/50s.

Next step is the subroadbed for the lower level, which will just be cookie cutter work with 1/4" plywood. That should go fairly quickly compared to the helix.
